Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1025(h)(1): All surfaces were not maintained as free as practicable of accumulations of lead: a) Throughout Facility - Employees were working with damaged and leaking batteries to sort them when the lead dusts were leaking from the batteries every day and employees were required to clean them up. Employer failed to ensure that surfaces were maintained as free as practical of accumulation of lead dust on the surfaces indicated below, as sampled on or about 05/04/2016: 1) A wipe sample of the top surface of first microwave located in the break room area measured 473.74 micrograms (ug). 2) A wipe sample of the top surface of small fridge located in the break room area measured 288.40 micrograms (ug). Repeat - Other-than-Serious Citation: Johnson Controls was previously cited for repeat violation of the same occupational safety and health standard and hazard of 29 CFR 1910.1025(h)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection # 108096, Citation # 3, Item # 2 and was affirmed as final order on 04/24/2012, with respect to a workplace located at 10300 Industrial St. Holland, OH 43528.
