29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails are not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed: A) Casey Bortles: The employer does not ensure that portable ladders, used to access the roof of the one story residential structure, are extended at least three feet above the landing surface. Employees are exposed to approximately 11 feet fall hazard when using the ladders to access the roof in order to conduct construction activities. This violation was recently observed on or about July 11, 2019, at the location of 1173 Riley Lane, Waterville, OH 43566, where employees were conducting roofing activities. Casey Bortles was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard (29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1)), which was contained in OSHA Inspection # 1066332, Citation number 2, Item number 3, and was affirmed as a final order on 07/14/2015, with respect to a workplace located at 2861 Woods Edge, Perrysburg, OH 43551.
