29 CFR 1910.1025(i)(4)(iv): Employees entering lunchroom facilities with protective work clothing or equipment were not required to remove surface lead dust by vacuuming, downdraft booth, or other cleaning method(s): Employees enter the flex refining pulpit and canteen, flex casting pulpit, and tripper car tram where food and drink is consumed, throughout the day without first removing surface lead dust prior to entering. a. On or about November 8, 2022, an employee working the Degas in the Flex Refining was exposed to lead at an 8-hour Time-Weighted Average (TWA) of 77.9 �g/m3 during the 434 minute sampling period. This is 1.56 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 50 �g/m3. Exposure calculations include a zero exposure increment for the 13 minutes not sampled. b. On or about November 8, 2022, an employee working on the ladle deck in the Flex Casting was exposed to lead at an 8-hour Time-Weighted Average (TWA) of 89.7 �g/m3 during the 412 minute sampling period. This is 1.79 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 50 �g/m3. Exposure calculations include a zero exposure increment for the 68 minutes not sampled. c. On or about November 8, 2022, an employee working in the Tripper Car was exposed to lead at an 8-hour Time-Weighted Average (TWA) of 381.7 �g/m3 during the 325 minute sampling period. This is 7.635 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 50 �g/m3. Exposure calculations include a zero exposure increment for the 155 minutes not sampled. Republic Steel was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard (name previously cited standard), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1196888, citation number 1, item number 4c and was affirmed as a final order on June 18, 2018, with respect to a workplace located at 2633 8th Street NE, Canton, OH 44704.
