Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees housed in trailer #17 were exposed to the hazards of fire, smoke inhalation, electric shock and electrocution: a)Dining Area - One light bulb and assembly of the ceiling light fixture was missing, exposing live electrical parts to accidental contact. b)Bathroom - One light bulb and assembly of the ceiling light fixture was missing, exposing live electrical parts to accidental contact. c)Kitchen - The one-bulb light fixture was not secured in place, and conductors were not provided with strain relief. d)East Bedroom - The two-bulb light fixture had a broken mounting bracket and the conductors were not provided with strain relief. e)East Bedroom - The two-bulb light fixture, which was missing a light bulb and mounted 20 inches over the west bunk bed contained exposed live parts. The fixture's mounting bracket was bent. f)West Bedroom - The circuit breaker panel, supplying power to the trailer, was missing a blank or knockout exposing live electrical parts to accidental contact. g)Hall - The battery operated smoke detector and alarm was not operational. Among other methods, one feasible means of abatement would be to provide electrical installations which are in compliance with the National Electrical Code.
