Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees housed in trailer #16 were exposed to the hazards of fire, smoke inhalation, electric shock and electrocution: a)Livingroom - The conductors of the one-bulb fixture contained reverse polarity. b)Bathroom - The exhaust fan, which was mounted on the ceiling, was not grounded. The metal frame of the fan contained 9 volts. c)West Bedroom - The light fixture on the wall had a detached bulb socket and did not have a permanent and continuous path to ground. The metal frame of the fixture contained 2 volts. d)Hall - The battery operated smoke detector and alarm was not operational. Among other methods, one feasible means of abatement would be to provide electrical installations which are in compliance with the National Electrical Code.
