Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees housed in trailer #6 were exposed to the hazards of fire, smoke inhalation, electric shock and electrocution: aMiddle Bedroom - The two-bulb light fixture, which was mounted on the ceiling and missing a light bulb had exposed live electrical parts at the empty light socket. The employees turn the light on and off by screwing the bulb in and out because the light switch was not operational. b)Middle Bedroom - The cover on the electrical outlet, which was mounted on the north wall, was cracked and missing its upper portion which exposed the live electrical parts to accidental contact. c)West Bedroom - The wall-mounted electrical outlet had reverse polarity. d)Hall - The battery operated smoke detector and alarm was not operational. Among other methods, one feasible means of abatement would be to provide electrical installations which are in compliance with the National Electrical Code.
