Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees housed in Bunk House #70 were exposed to the hazards of fire, smoke inhalation, electric shock and electrocution: a)Kitchen - The electrical outlet, which was mounted on the north wall, was not provided with a cover or face-plate, exposing live electrical parts to accidental contact. b)Bedroom - The electrical outlet, which was mounted on the south wall, was not provided with a cover or face-plate, exposing live electrical parts to accidental contact. c)Shower Room - The light switch, was not provided with a cover or face-plate, exposing live electrical parts to accidental contact. d)Toilet Room - The light switch, was not provided with a cover or face-plate, exposing live electrical parts to accidental contact. e)Boiler Room - The two well pump starters and two well pressure switches were not provided with covers, exposing live electrical parts to accidental contact. f)Kitchen - The White Westinghouse refrigerator was not grounded, and the door handle of the refrigerator contained 16 volts. Among other methods, one feasible means of abatement would be to provide electrical installations which are in compliance with the National Electrical Code.
