29 CFR 1910.23(c)(1): Open-sided floors and/or platforms four feet or more above adjacent floor or ground level were not guarded with standard railings (or equivalent) and toe boards: a) On or about 8/18/2015, Draw Machine Area: The platform for the McBee Bull block draw machine was not provided with a guardrail. Employees exposed to falls of 54 inches. b) On or about 8/18/2015, C13 Machine Power Platform: The C13 power platform was not provided with a guardrail system. Employees exposed to falls of over seven feet. c) On or about 11/5/2015, Furnace Area: The area between the molten copper tub and the furnace had an unguarded open sided floor. Employees exposed to falls of over eight feet. d) On or about 11/5/2015, Furnace Area: The area next to the jib crane had an unguarded open sided floor. Employees exposed to falls of over eight feet. e) On or about 11/5/2015, Furnace Area: The area to the West of the furnace had an unguarded open sided floor. Employees exposed to falls of over eight feet. f) On or about 11/5/2015, Furnace Area: Employees were required to climb on the tilted furnace face without fall protection. Employees exposed to falls of over ten feet. Abatement documentation is required for these items. Tecnofil Chenango, SAC, was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.23(c)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 881463, citation number 1, item 5a and was affirmed as a final order on 7/3/2013, with respect to a workplace located at 40 South Main Street, Sherburne, NY.
