Text For Citation: 03 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.265(c)(20)(ii): Machine(s) that created dust, shavings, chips, or slivers during a period of time equal to or greater than one-fourth of the working day were not equipped with collecting system(s): (a) Sawmill: The Edger and Chop saw were not equipped with an adequate collection system to remove combustible saw dust and shavings from the mill area. Saw dust, 3 1/2' to 5' deep, had accumulated in piles alongside, under, and in the mill, as observed on March 5, 2014. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM Wayne Mulch & Lumber, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard Sawmills 1910.265(c)(20(ii), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 315223008, citation number 1, item number 7 and was affirmed as a final order on May 26, 2011, with respect to a workplace located at Wayne Lumber & Mulch, Inc. in Wayne, West Virginia.
