Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to emergency egress hazards: a) Greenhouse #1, on or about 6/18/20: The employer did not provide exit doors for employee use to quickly and safety exit the building in the event of fire or other emergency. This greenhouse is approximately 820 feet wide x 2,625 feet long and has zero personnel doors and one overhead door at the East end and one overhead door at the West end. b) Greenhouse #2, on or about 6/18/2020: The employer did not provide exit doors for employee use to quickly and safety exit the building in the event of fire or other emergency. This greenhouse is approximately 820 feet wide x 2,625 feet long and has zero personnel doors and one overhead door at the East end and one overhead door at the West end. Among other feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to install exits doors in numbers and design that meet the criteria outlined in (NFPA) National Fire Protection Association Life Safety Code 101-2018 including but not limited to: Chapter 7 Means of Egress, Section 7.4 - Number of Means of Egress; Chapter 40 - Industrial Occupancies, Section 40.2 Means of Egress Requirements and Tables 40.2.5.1 - Arrangement of Means of Egress and Table 40.2.6.1 - Maximum Travel Distance to Exits.
