This instruction describes policies and procedures for implementing a National Emphasis Program (NEP) to identify and to reduce workplace machine and equipment hazards which are causing or likely to cause amputations. The intent of this NEP is to target workplaces with machinery and equipment that cause (or are capable of causing) amputations, while maximizing the Agency's inspection resources.
