Preparing for Use of Marine Hanging Staging

This section of the eTool module on Ship Repair presents safe work practices (SWPs) that should be followed when workers are planning to use marine hanging staging in ship repair operations.

Specifically, this section addresses the importance of assigning an appropriately qualified person to oversee operations, of establishing the intended use of the staging and then determining what loads will need to be supported, and of anticipating and preparing for hazards. Another safe practice addressed is implementing a uniform tagging system that provides notice of the intended use and status of the particular staging installation.
