Investigation Summary
At 10:30 a.m. on March 18, 2019, an employee was operating a brush chipper. He was working alongside a county rode with a crew to clean roadside debris. As the employee was working, a large downed pine tree that was located uphill from where he was standing began rolling towards him. The rolling tree hit the employee and both the employee and the tree rolled down an embankment. The employee was crushed and killed.
