Investigation Summary

At 1:00 p.m. on April 3, 2019, two employees were painting new traffic control lines in a roadway. They were located in the middle of a designated traffic control zone that had established traffic control measures, equipment, directional arrow traffic boards that were illuminated, and an on duty municipal police officer with a patrol vehicle that had its patrol lights activated. While painting the new traffic control lines, a motor vehicle entered the traffic control zone and struck both employees. The police officer on duty called emergency services and, upon arrival, both employees were transported to a nearby hospital. Employee #1 was killed and Employee #2 was hospitalized and treated for unspecified injuries.
