Investigation Summary
At approximately 3:28 p.m. on March 29, 2019, nine employees were suckering the grapevines inside the greenhouse. Suckering is the process where unwanted branches, limbs, and buds are removed from the grapevines either by hand, or by using simple hand tools, such as a knife. The employees were initially treated for heat-related illness, but the symptoms did not improve. The employees were transported to the hospital, where they were treated for carbon monoxide exposure.
