Investigation Summary
At 6:00 p.m. on July 8, 2020, an employees who had worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a Skilled Nursing Facility died from COVID-19. The employee had worked in the "green zone", which is a facility where there were no known residents infected with COVID-19. The employee provided care to a patient who was a non-ambulatory resident of the facility. This patient was asymptomatic for COVID-19, but later tested positive for the virus around the same time period when the employee tested positive. It cannot be determined if the patient or the employee contracted the COVID-19 infection first, but the employer did not have Adequate Aerosol Transmissible Diseases policies and procedures in place.
