Investigation Summary
An employee was working in the dietary department at a nursing care or skilled nursing facility. She worked in the kitchen and prepared food. On November 7, 2020, during a pre-shift screening process, she reported symptoms consistent with Covid-19. She was immediately sent home and instructed to follow up with her medical provider. She did follow up with her medical provider, and she was tested for COVID-19. On or around November 12, 2020, she called her employer to inform the firm that her test confirmed that she was positive for COVID-19. She was instructed to stay at home and quarantine. She was also instructed to stay overnight at a nearby hospital for observation, but she refused to do this. On or around November 16, 2020, her employer received a call from the employee's spouse, informing the employer that the employee had died at home in bed. It was possible that she had died from respiratory complications that developed as a result of a COVID-19 infection.
