Investigation Summary
At 3:30 p.m. on August 2, 2021, an employee who had been working full-time in the deli of a truck stop died from COVID-19. A coworker had recently tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the employee's death. The employee and eight coworkers at the same location had been diagnosed with COVID-19 from the end of July through August. The employee had been experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms and died at home while waiting on her COVID-19 test results. The employee had underlying medical conditions which contributed to her death. The results of her test are not indicated in the narrative. Information regarding engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls for COVID-19 are also not included in the narrative.
