Investigation Summary
An employee had been working as a High School Band Teacher for a public school system. The employee was potentially exposed to a student who had been experiencing what they thought were allergy symptoms. The student developed symptoms consistent with COVID-19 infection and 6 days later and tested positive. The employee was hospitalized for 10 days before being transferred to a regional health center for an additional 15 days where he died from COVID-19 on September 9, 2021. Information regarding engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls for COVID-19 are not included in the narrative.
