Investigation Summary

An employee and his sister and brother all worked for a temporary staffing agency at a pistachio packaging company when all three became ill with COVID-19 about the same time. The employee's last day at work was September 5, 2021, and was having symptoms so he went to the hospital for treatment and was treated and sent home. On the evening of September 12, the employee was having trouble breathing and he was transported to a local medical center where he died 1/2 hour after he arrived at the hospital. The employee's mother also contracted COVID-19 and died on September 6, 2021. The brother and sister recovered from their infections without requiring hospitalization.
