Mechanical Operations » Grapple Skidder
A Grapple Skidder is a rubber tired four-wheel-drive machine consisting of a power plant, operator enclosure, forward dozer blade and a maneuverable grappling device at the back of the machine. These machines are generally used where feller buncher machines are working. The grapple skidder backs into position adjacent to previously felled piles (bunches) of trees. The operator opens and lowers the grapple onto the trunks of the trees and then closes the grapple and raises the tree trunks slightly off the ground. The machine then moves the trees through the woods to the landing and drops them off.
There are no specific OSHA requirements for Grapple Skidders. Please refer to General Requirements for Machines and Vechicles.
