Weather Insulating/Sealing: Falls

Workers applying blow-in or spray-on materials at elevated locations may be exposed to fall hazards. Workers applying blow-in or spray-on materials use specialized equipment which includes long hoses and electrical power lines. These can create trip and fall hazards on stairs, platforms and scaffolding, as well as flat surfaces. Employers must protect their workers from fall hazards (Training – 29 CFR 1926.1060; Protection – scaffolds 29 CFR 1926.454 and duty to have fall protection – 29 CFR 1926.501).

For additional information on fall hazards, see OSHA's Fall Protection pages for General and Maritime Industries and Construction Industry.
