  • The end saws on the trimmer must be guarded. 1910.265(e)(4)(ii)(b)

  • The rear of the trimmer saws must have a guard the full width of the saws and as much wider as practical. 1910.265(e)(4)(ii)(c)

  • Provide automatic trimmer saws with safety stops or hangers to prevent saws from dropping on the table. 1910.265(e)(4)(iii)

Logs may kick back and strike the operator.

  • Do not run trimmer saws at peripheral speeds in excess of those recommended by the manufacturer. 1910.265(e)(4)(i)

Flying particles or loose materials may strike workers.

  • Trimmer saws must be securely bolted to a frame and guarded in front with adequate baffles to protect against flying debris. Set these guards as close to the top of the trimmer table as is practical. 1910.265(e)(4)(ii)(a)
